Who’s Derek?

An adventurous person looking to live life outside the box not only through experiences but also through his career. Having graduated Seneca College’s Digital Media program and later furthering his love for art with a Game Production certificate, Derek was able to achieve a versatile skill set in what would become the start of his career in the Digital Media industry.

Having first worked as a freelance artist, Derek was able to gain customer relations experience. Working under tight deadlines and small budgets creativity proved to be an asset in finding technical and design solutions for each and every client.

Having a few years of freelance experience under his belt Derek was able to join the developement team at Electronic Arts in 2004 where he was able to work with some of the worlds best artist and game designers. Being assigned to the NBA Live franchise Derek was part of a dynamic team highly talented individuals that succeeded year in and year out to deliver the worlds best NBA basketball video game.

In 2006 it was time to travel, from Vancouver to Manila, Tokyo to LA and back to Toronto, he was able to grow and mature as a person and develop what he believed to be the most important personal trait, trust.

Derek developed a trust with himself learning to believe in what he did, always wanting to take any task to the next level. Constantly challenging himself and never settling for the average.

It was April of 2010 when Derek joined a small startup technology company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. The challenge, taking on a outdated, virtually unknown brand of external hard drives and giving it a new face.
